Staff:
Chairman: Sam Millatt
Fixture Secretary: Sam Millatt
Treasurer: Paul Farrow
Club Captain: Sam Millatt
Vice-Captain: Chris Willett
Players:
1. Sam Millatt-Age 22, Right Handed, Millatt has done well to lead a squad of inconsistent and unreliable players which has constantly changed by the week over the past 6 years. Despite all the club's problems, Millatt leads the team from the front like a Roman Centurion, and recently guided the team to 4 consecutive victories, a club record. Although his batting technique is simple - get in line, and hit the ball as far as possible, it has proved successful on many occasions. He is also the clubs leading wicket-taker. Millatt recently came of age with a superb 124* in the win over Trengilley.
2. Ryan Curtis-Age 22, Right Handed, Player of true class who has represented Cornwall at under-16 level. There is no doubt Curtis is one of Millatt's key lieutenants at the club, and is one of the major factors in the clubs recent resurgence. One of the quickest bowlers at the club, although he is to line and length what Steven Gateley is to the music industry. Capable of lusty blows with the bat but needs to know when to pull in the reins.
3. John Biddick-Age 20, Right Handed, John is one of the clubs most popular figures, and one of the few remaining players from the club's early days. He has established himself as a rock in the top 4, and his innocous leg breaks have proved successful over the years, most notably at Nancledra in 2004, when he took 4-17. Has acquired the nickname 'The Janitor' due to his inclination to play the sweep shot. When batting, John sweats in incredibly large amounts, only comparable to a lesbian in a fishmongers.
4. Pete Middlehurst-Age 56-Right Handed, Pete 'Waiting For God' Middlehurst arrived on the Lanherne scene in 2004, and immediately endeared himself to his team-mates with his huge personality and hilarious batting technique. He has been used by Millatt at the top of the order as a pinch-hitter, but unfortunately this experiment is doomed to failure, with a top score of 5 in 2 seasons.
5. Leigh Bass-Age 21-Left Handed, Player with a strong cricketing background from a long line of great Bass cricketers but his commitment and ability to bat under pressure are a serious concern for all involved with the club. His textbook technique is admired by all around him and his bowling actions is as good as it gets. Another player to fall by the wayside, Leigh has fallen foul to other temptations, such as alcohol and crack.
6. Ryan Chapman-Age 22, Right Handed, Very un-mobile and lacks ability but makes up for it with 100% commitment for his captain. His agricultural background is visible when he arrives at training on his latest tractor. Ryan is one of the club's most popular figures, but since the club has evolved from its dark age, Ryan has lost his place in the side to younger, more talented and athletic cricketers. Ryan's coup de gras came when he dived into a brick wall after a sprawling dive to save a boundary at Perranporth in 2001.
7. Matthew Biddick-Age 24, Right Handed, Brother of club stalwart John who has made a promising start to his career. His economical bowling, experienced head in the field and off-field antics have led to his increasing popularity within the first-team squad. Matthew is one of the clubs key figures, and is the heart of Lanhern'e social scene.
8. Chris Willett - Age 20, Right Handed, Club vice captain. Another of Millatt's key delegates, Chris has impressed everyone at the club with his steady head, tidy glovework and consistent batting. Has introduced many figures into the Lanherne fold, most notably Greg Prowse and Gavin Pipe. Willett has gained a repuatation as a finisher in the Michael Bevan mould, most notably with a priceless 25* at Nancledra in 2006 to see Lanherne home in a tricky siutation.
9. Jon Arthur-Age 20, Right Handed, Club phenomenon, Jon mysteriously takes wickets consistently with inocuous deliveries. Now at UCL University in London, which has restricted his appearances over the past few seasons. Bats like David Gower with a slower run-rate and is balding.
10. Chris Rippin-Age 19-Right handed, Another promising youngster to graduate from Millatt's youth academy, who has impressed everyone at the club with his performances and general attitude during matches. Affectionately known as 'Mmm Bop', Chris has been one of the most reliable and consistent performers since his debut at Trengilley in 2003. Unfortunately Chris is prone to tantrums every time he misfields or gets dismissed when batting. This, coupled with his sometimes irritating personality has led to verbal assaults and bullying from his team-mates.
11. Sam Beard-Age 19-Right Handed, Sam is showing a great deal of potential with his staunchy batting and deceptive right-arm bowling. Another of the clubs most reliable players, Sam is a very popular figure but has not yet repaid his captain's faith in him, with a top score of 13 in 5 years. He memorably cost Lanherne the game in the final over at Bugle in 2003. when he pleaded skipper Millatt for bowl and proceeded to get slapped about like a cheap whore.
12. Aaron Dilley-Age 17-Right handed. Aaron made his debut on the opening game of the season away to Trengilley in April 2004, and has looked very impressive since. He is equally comfortable opening the batting or slipping down the order to 6 or 7, and his versatility is also shown in his bowling, being equally adept with leg breaks or medium pace. Joined the club under the reccomendation of Chris Willett, and has cemented his place in the team after just 4 games.
13. Tom Brooks-Age 17-Left Handed, Tom is the first in line from the Brooks conveyer belt of talent, and was the only ray of hope in Lanherne's dismal performance against Boconnoc in last season's village knockout. Tom's County pedigree and Premier League experience is a massive asset to the club.
14. Mark O'Mahoney-Age 21-Right Handed, Mark made his club debut in 2005 at the Hillbillies, and has formed a solid opening partnership with Pete Middlehurst. Mark is one of the clubs most versatile players, not only first-choice wicket-keeper, but can also bowl useful medium pace. Mark has recently broken through into the Newquay 1st team, and this Premier League experience is another vital asset to the club to aid their drive for success.
15. Jon Andrews-Age 17-Left Handed, Jon has made 2 appearances to date, but has yet to shine with either bat or ball. His inclusion in the side has caused unrest amongst team-mates, but his place in the side is assured for pure comedy value. His finest hour came during a team AGM when discussing a tour to India. Jon chipped in with a gem of a comment - 'Don't go to Madras, i'll get someone pregnant, she'll have 30 kids and the maintenance costs will cripple my finances'. Genius.
16. Lewis O'Mahoney-Age19-Right Handed, Lewis made his Lanherne debut in April 2006, during the 128-run mauling of Trengilley. Lewis is an ameteur boxer and undoubtedly the quickest bowler in Lanherne's arsenal. He ripped through the Trengilley batting line-up on his debut, taking memorable figures of 6-17. Lewis's appearances have been restricted by work commitments, but he is looking forward to a long and prosperous carreer with the club.
